Kickoff ConcertLehigh's a cappella groups host a kickoff concert during the first week of classes each fall. This gives students a chance to see what each group has to offer prior to auditions. The concert also provides fans of Lehigh a cappella a chance to see their favorite groups for free!AuditionsThe Lehigh University Melismatics hold auditions for new members every September. After our Kickoff Concert, anyone interested in participating in any of Lehigh's four student-run a cappella groups can sign up for an audition. The audition process involves a solo audition including a prepared unaccompanied song and some sight singing. Selected auditionees will then sing with the group to hear how they blend and how well they are able to learn a song.Trick or Treat to the BeatThe Lehigh University Melismatics held their fall concert on Oct. 30 with the Echoes, Lehigh's women's a cappella group. The concert also included the debut performance of Off the Record, Lehigh's newest a cappella group, as well as a guest group from The College of New Jersey, The Trentones. The Melismatics sang to a packed house, performing hits by The Doobie Brothers, Billy Joel, Bon Jovi, Incubus and more. Trick or Treat to the Beat was a hit!Invitational ConcertOur 6th annual Invitational Concert, scheduled for January 30, 2010 in Lamberton Hall, is our chance to bring a cappella groups from other colleges to Lehigh. In the past, Lehigh's a cappella groups have hosted three guest groups for a concert early in the spring semester. This year, for the first time, our invitational concert will take the form of an a cappella festival. If you know of or participate in an a cappella group and you would like more information about performing with us at Lehigh, send an email toSpring concertThis year's spring concert, "Top Shelf", will feature the release of our newest CD! In addition to performing well-received ICCA set and some new favorites, we'll be honoring our seniors with senior solos - including Queen's "Somebody to Love", Janis Joplin's "Me and Bobby McGee", and many more. Check us out in Packard 101 on April 23 at 7 p.m. to hear our final concert of the year. We will also be performing with the OrphanSporks from Rutgers! You don't want to miss it. |
